FRAUD ALERT: Employment offers, requests for services, material, equipment

We have received reports of individuals and organizations falsely claiming to represent or be affiliated with PETRONAS Canada. Please note that these communications are fraudulent. They do not originate from PETRONAS Canada, nor are they associated with our recruitment or supply chain management processes. We sincerely regret any inconvenience caused by these individuals and organizations.

Employment

Please be aware that PETRONAS Canada does not send out unsolicited requests for sensitive personal information (e.g., banking details, social insurance number, driver’s license, etc.) or request financial investment or payment from applicants at any point in the recruitment process.

All candidates who are successful in gaining an offer of employment from PETRONAS Canada, whether directly or indirectly, are always required to go through a formal recruitment process, which includes an interview with a member of our hiring team prior to any offer of employment. PETRONAS Canada does not provide offers of employment to candidates via text, WhatsApp, Facebook, or any other social media or messaging application. All authentic job openings will always be posted on our website, and all legitimate communications will originate from a verifiable PETRONAS Canada email address. We do not use yahoo.com, hotmail.com, or other unaffiliated internet email addresses.

Supply Chain Management

While vendors and third-party contractors may receive messages from PETRONAS Canada representatives, please exercise due diligence to verify authenticity. All Supply Chain Management activity for PETRONAS Canada is conducted through formal processes, including Request for Proposal (RFP), Request for Quotation (RFQ), contract issuance, and supplier/vendor registration. Please be aware that we will never request financial investment or payment from potential suppliers/vendors in order to participate in these requirements.

What to do

If you cannot verify the legitimacy of a message claiming to have originated from PETRONAS Canada, we recommend you do not respond to the fraudulent party. Report the matter to the appropriate law enforcement agency and notify us by email.

If you feel you have fallen victim to fraud, please contact your local police/authorities. You can also submit a report to the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre.
